Clinical Day

Clinical Challenges for Translational TERM

TERMIS-EU 2026 will feature dedicated Translational Sessions that bring together clinicians and Fellows of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (FTERM), distinguished leaders recognized for their outstanding contributions to the field and to TERMIS.
These sessions will present real-world clinical cases that illustrate the challenges and limitations of current reconstructive therapies and clinical practice. Building on these cases, participants will discuss the current state of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, specialty-specific barriers, potential solutions, and realistic opportunities for collaboration between clinicians and researchers.

Through these sessions, we aim to highlight the key challenges encountered in clinical settings while exploring practical solutions and future directions. Clinical Day offers a valuable opportunity to gain interdisciplinary insight and contribute to the advancement of translational tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

Round Table with Clinicians and FTERMs

As a concluding highlight of Clinical Day, this round table will bring together clinicians and leading experts in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, including Fellows of TERMIS (FTERM). The discussion will address both specialty-specific and broader challenges that currently limit the translation of TERM into clinical practice, while exploring actions and opportunities to move the field toward greater clinical relevance.

An additional focus will be to provide guidance for the next generation of TERMIS researchers, including SYIS members, on how to incorporate translational perspectives into their projects and future career goals.

Translational Research

Clinical Day will also include sessions focused on the translation of emerging technologies and regenerative strategies toward clinical application. These sessions will explore how advances in biofabrication, bioprinting, and translational research are helping bridge the gap between laboratory discovery and patient care.
